Thanksgiving 2012

After a few close calls that Jim may have joined us for Thanksgiving, we ended up spending a few special days celebrating with the Goodfellows. We did all kinds of crafts, Scripture reading, devotions and story telling. We made some wonderful memories we will not soon forget. Wednesday we did something "different" at the Goodfellows' house and then Thursday we headed to Goldsboro to spend Thanksgiving dinner with Melissa's family. It was such a blessing to me and the boys, especially since we were missing Jim extra during the holiday. THANK YOU dear, dear friends!
David & Aiden ready to see the special Thanksgiving Eve surprise dinner
We all made little Mayflower ships out of walnuts and wrote out 4 things we were thankful for. One in particular had to be something that we were thankful for despite it being hard sometimes. Aiden's was "obey." I was able to text with Jim on Skype while we were working on this project so we were able to make him one too. :)
SURPRISE! "Turkey" for dinner. Made out of pancakes, bacon, chocolate chips, and fruit! Great idea Melissa!

After some much needed preparation and talking ourselves into it, Melissa & I decided to do some extreme Black Friday shopping. We didn't "plan" on making it extreme, but we definitely got some amazing deals and couldn't resist taking pictures of her van while were STILL not finished shopping. :) We started Thursday evening in Goldsboro, stopped in Kinston and New Bern that night/next morning, stopped back home for a quick 3 hour nap and headed back out until 2:30PM Friday afternoon!!! Thankfully Gary took the kids home from Melissa's parents so they all were able to sleep and play while we literally shopped until we dropped, or should I say POPPED! (the van that is)
We got some great deals and can't wait to do it again next year, right Melissa?? ;)
Hope you all had a very BLESSED Thanksgiving!

Our Supers!!

Our dear little friend Carter had a super hero birthday party in November and Mrs. Becky made all of the kids capes with their first initial on them. (SOOO Cute!!) David and Aiden enjoy racing around the house as Super David & Super Aiden :)

Happy 6th Birthday David!

I have a bit of catching up to do from November through today, so let's get started...

On November 9, 2012 our sweet David turned 6 years old! I can hardly believe how much he has grown and matured this past year. He is such a blessing.

We decided to wait to have his party until Jim came home from deployment. We rescheduled it 3 times before we successfully had Daddy home to celebrate, but it was worth the wait. On his actual birthday we still had tons of fun with friends.

First we headed to Baker's Kitchen with Mrs. Becky, Makayla and Carter. Then we met up with Mrs. Laura from church who shares a birthday with David. She was so sweet and made David a special airplane cake for us to enjoy, it was super yummy and oh so cute! Then we headed to Jacksonville to have a late lunch with the Goodfellows at Chuck E Cheese. For dinner we drove back home to New Bern and picked up Chick fil A on our way over to the Goodfellows for some presents, but not before stopping at FroYo 101 and David's free birthday frozen yogurt! It was a very full and fun day!
