Blueberries, Blueberries EVERYWHERE

We have had a blast this year picking fresh berries, so we were thrilled when the Wehrmans invited us to go blueberry picking with them the morning after fireworks and what a treat that Jim was able to go with us. Once again it was HOT and by HOT I mean you just think about going outside and you start sweating profusely! We had a great time despite the heat. We managed to pick enough to make Blueberry Cobbler, Blueberry Pancakes, Blueberry Crumb Cake, our own version of Blueberry Yogurt Smoothie, and have eaten more than our fair share of plain delicious blueberries. We love them! We still have a bunch left and are probably going to use them to try to make Blueberry Cornbread Mini Muffins and/or The Awesome-est Blueberry Muffins. To think that all those berries only cost us $6.70!! You can't beat that. Plus, Emma's Mama, Mrs. Kelly paid for our berries so thank you so much for this delicious treat! If you recall, first time we went blueberry picking Aiden didn't really get messy, this time around it was a completely different story! He was a M-E-S-S! He had fun though, and even more when he and the other kiddos were able to clean off and cool off with the water hose.

Getting started. These bushes were way bigger than the ones we had first picked from
David & Hunter peeking through the thicket
"I think I remember how to do this, just pick and eat, right?"
 What a mess!
but he was a happy mess, "Cheese!"
Black dirt is great for the skin
 Getting some help from Daddy
 ooh that's cold
Helping out his friend Kylee
Having way too much fun with water

Later on we headed outside to cool off some more.
David is loving this slip 'n slide.
This sweet soaked boy was trying to get his Mommy wet, stinker!

Here comes Aiden!!

Happy HOT Summer!

Jim's Return Home

I haven't posted too much about Jim being away on deployment the past couple of months. It really has been one of those years where he is gone, then home, then gone and back and forth it goes! I think he has been away every month expect for January, at least partially, but we thank God that He has returned Jim home to us earlier than expected! We were surprised to hear just a few days out that they would be arriving home early afternoon on the 4th of July and we were super excited. I waited to tell David until the morning of Jim's arrival, just in case, and he couldn't have smiled bigger from ear to ear.
We headed to the squadron around 10:30am and waited for the C130s to arrive. Boy oh boy was it HOT! I mean really, really hot. The poor children there were having a hard time staying cool, not to mention the Mommies who were trying to keep our cool while waiting.
Finally the big moment arrived and the airplanes were in sight in the sky. A few minutes later they were pulling up to the hanger. After customs did their thing, it was a sea of red, white & blue as families were reunited once again and how sweet on our country's independence day!

That evening after church we headed downtown to Lawson Creek Park where we met up with the McCarthys with 5 minutes to spare before the fireworks began. Then we headed to Froyo for some delicious & COLD frozen yogurt to end out the night.

We are so thankful to have Daddy home!

Ready and waiting at the squadron
Trying to stay cool inside the hanger
Little man climbed up on the chair by himself
Making friends while waiting for Daddy
and getting into mischief too. "Look Mommy, spiders!"
 They're here!!!
This little boy REALLY missed his Daddy
Aiden was so cute too as he literally ran into his Daddy's arms
 Together again
 Oh how we've missed this!
Daddy & Aiden

Fireworks at Lawson Creek Park. David was EXCITED!
Aiden was not too excited about fireworks, but he enjoyed them as long as he was next to Daddy!
