Who doesn't love italian?!?

Aiden had spaghetti for the first time today, do you think he liked it?

Our little Explorer

Aiden's new love is for the little camo chair that we got for David from some friends a few years ago. It is the perfect size for him to sit and lounge in. He likes to climb in and out of it, look at books in it and just plain ole sit there and enjoy the view. He is such a sweet little boy. We feel like he grows up so much in just days, it is so much fun to watch him. He is one smiley little guy who has no fear (except for in bouncey houses).
 Getting comfortable
Playing with his feet and gabbing all day long
 Observing the world around him.

This morning Aiden and I had some time alone together while David slept in so I followed him around with the camera as he explored and chatted with himself. He has been saying both "Mama" & "Dada" for some time now, but "Dada" has been the word of choice for the past several weeks. This morning however, I was delight to hear many a "Mamamamamama" :)
 I found you Aiden!
"I found YOU Mama!" (and the camera strap)
Our sweet blue eyed boy, with some pearly white chompers!
He got stuck trying to fit his head in between the chair and the sofa. He kept on trying though! Silly billy!
Ok, on to something new and exciting!
Check out those sweet curls! How we got a little one with those I'm not sure?? We'll just count it as a blessing! Happy Playing Aiden!

Happy Thanksgiving from the Friedleins!

One AMAZING turkey roaster, ready to go in the oven. (I love David's peeking in the background)
Some good ole fun in the backyard, this is WAY better than watching football on TV.
The BEST turkey I have ever tasted. Jim prepared and baked and basted, etc our turkey and it was incredibly delicious! Way to go honey!
I'm so thankful for these precious men in my life. I am blessed!
Aiden enjoyed his first Thanksgiving with all the trimmings: turkey, mashed potatoes, green bean casserole, stuffing, and cranberry sauce, yum yum yum!

This was one of our family crafts today. We each traced our hands and then made them to look like turkeys. Our sweet little gobbling family :)
We also have a tradition of writing something we are thankful for on these little foam leaves to put on a foam tree. We received it as a gift from a friend 3 years ago, and this year we completed all of the leaves. We have MANY things to be thankful for!

Many blessings to you all on this very special day that we give thanks to our Lord for ALL He has provided.

"Many, O Lord my God are thy wonderful works which thou hast done, and thy thoughts which are to usward: they cannot be reckoned up in order unto thee: if I would declare and speak of them, they are more than can be numbered." Psalm 40:5

On "Post Revival" ...

We had revival this past week at church, so many convicting services. We always say that we want not only to be stirred, but to be changed. I'm praying that this time it really will be true for me...

This past Sunday morning, God moved in our church. It was truly one of those service where you didn't want the preaching to end. I believe at least 3 people were saved, praise the Lord!

These verses in particular have been settling in my heart and I wanted to share them, perhaps you too want to be changed and not just stirred by the Holy Spirit of God:

"And they remembered that God was their rock, and the high God their redeemer. Nevertheless they did flatter him with their mouth, and they lied unto him with their tongues. For their heart was not right with him, neither were they stedfast in his covenant. But he, being full of compassion, forgave their iniquity, and destroyed them not: yea, many a time turned he his anger away, and did not stir up all his wrath. For he remembered that they were but flesh; a wind that passeth away, and cometh again. How oft did they provoke him in the wilderness, and grieve him in the desert!" Psalm 78:35-40

Oh that we would be a people who did not grieve the heart of God, but devoted our entire being to bringing him glory with a thankful heart!

"Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God." 1 Corinthians 10:31

I am also trying to really understand that my salvation, though a glorious gift to me, is truly for God's glory and nothing more; nothing less.

"Nevertheless he saved them for his name's sake, that he might make his mighty power to be known" Psalm 106:8

This week I am thankful for my salvation, I am thankful for a real, personal relationship with my God. He can be your God too if you really truly repent, believe, and receive...

If you would like to know what it means to be saved click here and then, believing and truly meaning it with all your heart, pray to God Almighty and He will answer...

David's 5th Birthday Party

This year David's birthday theme was "Aircraft Carrier/Pilot/Jets..." It was a great military theme and I enjoy party planning and prep very much. This year the biggest adventure was the creation of the cake. My wonderful husband was enlisted for help and he quickly became the Master Engineer of the project. After some beautiful drawing of plans we got to work. Here are some of the steps of our rendition of an Aircraft Carrier Cake:
We started with 2 sheet cakes and one meatloaf pan size cake and put them all together with some cutting and shaping to get the above.

Then with the help of some frosting "glue" we pieced it together, using a cupcake and extra cake pieces to make a tower.

With just a teeny tiny dab of black food coloring we made this beautiful gray color and it started to look like something...

Add a runway and some outlining as well as some blue ocean waves...

The final product. I must say this cake looks pretty amazing. I particularly like the red radar dish we borrowed from his new aircraft carrier toy. David's favorite part was the jet, go figure :)

The Birthday Boy in his new "real" flight suit and patches, red & yellow for USMC

Our family tradition continues with a party pinata, this time of course it was an airplane.

David also got a bomber jacket to go with his flight suite so he had to model that too. Is he handsome or what???

At the party, all of the kids had to "earn their wings" by completing 4 evaluations: Academics, Physical Fitness Test, Ground Training, & Carrier Landing. After each "game" their received a check on their flight sheet.

Getting ready to sing "Happy Birthday" to our 5 year old big boy!

What a blessed boy he is. All of these sweet children were here to celebrate with him. After all of the evaluations, we had a mini "winging ceremony" and all of the kids were pinned with Junior Pilot wings. It was a blast!

Showing some of the wonderful gifts

Reading a sweet card from one of his favorite people...
Gotta love more military aircraft toys!

After everyone headed home, the 4 of us headed outside to have some family time on the absolutely gigantic bouncey house that we rented (of course I didn't realize until now that I never took a picture of it, oh well). We were having so much fun outside that we completely forgot that our doggies were inside alone with the party trash...looks like they had a little bit of fun themselves, nice.
All in all it was an absolutely wonderful birthday party and we are so thankful to God for giving us our precious son David. We look forward to many more birthdays celebrated together! It's hard to believe that soon I will be starting planning for Aiden's 1st birthday, my oh my how time flies!!

Happy 236th Birthday Marine Corps & Happy 5th Birthday David!

Today, November 10th is the 236th Birthday of the United States Marine Corps. Monday night Jim's squadron had their birthday ball in Havelock. It is always so much fun getting dressed up and seeing my man in his blues. The Goodfellows watched our boys while we went out on our date. It was a great evening.

Yesterday, November 9th, David turned 5 years old! I can hardly believe it! I remember the day he was born as if it were just yesterday. He is such a sweet boy and so tender hearted. We thank God for the blessing of our first born son!

We decided to celebrate by opening the gifts that family had sent to him. Thank you Grandma & Grandpa Van for the awesome airplanes!!
Thank you Aunt Haley for the new clothes and beautiful card!
Thank you Uncle David & Aunt Lindsey for the LEGOs!
Aiden had fun helping with the clean up of the wrapping paper. I can hardly wait to watch him open gifts, he is such a silly little character. (But don't grow up too fast Aiden!)
Thank you Nona & Pappa for the Biscuit books!

Wednesday afternoon David & I made party cupcakes to share for snack with his Sparks class that evening in Awana. Because it was a Wednesday, he didn't see Daddy until after church was out, so we decided to take him to a late dinner to have a quick family celebration. David chose Chick Fil A, (Great choice!) so we headed on in with 3 other gifts in tow. There he opened the gifts from us, an Imaginext Air Craft Carrier and his very own flight suit & flight jacket like Daddy (pictures to come at party time on Saturday). He also opened his gift from Gramma & Grandpa Taylor, a Snap Circuit Jr set! Thank you!!!

Saturday is the birthday boy's party and he can hardly wait!

November Goals

Okay, so it's my turn. I think it is about time I have some monthly goals to accomplish. Thanks for the encouragement Keri and Emma !

I will start with 10 and see how I do:

1. Exercise & shower every weekday before the boys wake up.
2. Make bed every day.
3. Do daily Bible study & memorize 4 verses.
4. Brush the dogs once a week
5. Clean stairs to bonus room (don't allow stuff to clutter on them)
6. Have an amazing 5 year old "aircraft carrier" birthday party!
7. Finish the mulch in front yard
8. Keep finances balanced.
9. Keep coupons organized and filed
10. Go on a real date with my husband.

I think these are realistic and very much needed. We'll see how it goes...
