Baby Boy Baby Shower

I have the most wonderful, sweet Christian ladies as friends here in Quantico. I look back on the bittersweet feelings I had about moving here last summer; leaving our church family & friends behind to an "unknown" place; and now I have the same feelings as we prepare to leave VA. We were in our home here for about 2 or so months before we really got connected with anyone, but ever since then, our time here with our beloved friends has been precious.
Saturday, my dear friend and neighbor Kirby hosted an absolutely beautiful baby shower for us as we await our arrival of our little man in January. She just wouldn't let us move away without having one and I am so very thankful to God for her and each lady who was able to attend.
The party had a very impressive and DELICIOUS selection of food. (I was literally eating the entire time) and the decorations were adorable and the fellowship and games were ever so sweet. The cake that Kirby ordered looked almost too perfect to eat, but I have to say that I've been eating a piece each day since! YUM!
I thank God for all the people He has brought into our lives and I am so very thankful for my dear friends and for the time I have had getting to know each one of them. I love you all and THANK YOU!

Sweet baby Kyla snoozing before the party began :)

I had to include both pictures I took of the cake because it really did look ever so perfect!

It sure tasted great too! It had butter cream underneath with chocolate cake and strawberry spread inside!

ALL of the food tasted delicious. Kirby went all out with delicious choices. Again, I was eating them all the whole time :)

Holly & Erika were so sweet to even have thought of David during the shower. They bought him his very own gift and he was SUPER excited about it. Bath crayons! Doesn't he look proud? :)

Hot Summer Fun OUTdoors

Not only are we finding fun things to do in the house when it is hot, but we've finally ventured out to the pool. Jim & David have gone a few weeks ago, but until now, I haven't felt well enough to go. Wednesday Jim got out of work early so we decided to spend a few hours cooling off in the pool. David impressed us with his new ability to go under water while keeping his mouth closed and holding his breath. I am so excited that he is loving being in the water. Hopefully next summer he can take some swimming lessons.

The mushroom fountain is now one of David's favorite things

This afternoon David and I met a couple of friends and their kiddos at the pool one more time this week. There was hardly anyone there and after yesterday's thunderstorms today turned out great. We even managed to walk to the pool for some much needed exercise. David made it all the way there walking (and running) with his friend Shane while I pulled the wagon with our snacks. We all had a great time together!

Hot Summer Fun INdoors

We are back to 90 degree plus 100% humidity days here in VA. That means some days are spent inside with the A/C. I am very thankful for it! One day this week David and I both were on a puzzle kick, so after completing a smaller pirate puzzle, we decided to take on the challege of a 300 piece Lightening McQueen puzzle. I had bought it at a garage sale while we were in MI a few months ago, so I wasn't sure that all the pieces were there, but after some hard work and a few hours, we were happy to see that they were. David was very proud of our masterpiece!

Awaiting another precious baby BOY!

Last Thursday we had an ultrasound done at Ft Belvoir. It has been a huge blessing for our family because Jim and David both have been able to attend all of my appointments, seeing how so far EVERY single one has involved an ultrasound. During this appointment we were able to see almost all of our little one's organs and limbs, it was amazing to see them all at only 15 weeks. About 20 minutes into it, Jim asked if it was too soon to find out the sex of the baby. The tech said she didn't see anything yet, but not 10 seconds later she said ever so frankly, "It's a boy!" I sat right up and said, "Are you sure?" She froze the screen and I saw for myself that indeed God has given us another precious baby boy! I looked at David and said, "You were right buddy!" and he said, "Yes, I know, I'm having a baby brother" He is so excited to have a little playmate to call his very own.
In other news, some of you may know that we also have been following a large cyst on my right ovary that has been growing and at this appointment we noted that it had grown once again. We had a consultation appointment with the surgeon this past Tuesday and he has confirmed that we must have surgery to remove the cyst, for the safety of both me and our baby boy.
The surgery is scheduled for Aug 18th. I am trusting whole heartedly in God's protection, and our family is asking for your prayers both for a smooth surgery and recovery, and especially for the protection of myself and our precious unborn baby.
A few verses that I am clinging to during this time are:
Philippians 4:6-7 "Be anxious for nothing but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passes all understanding shall guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus."
Isaiah 41: 10 "Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness."
2 Timothy 1: 7 "For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind."
Jeremiah 29: 11 "For I know the plans I have for you, ' declares the Lord, 'plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."
Thank you for all of your love, support, and prayers for our family.
God Bless!

New Bern Weekend Part 1

Last weekend we headed down to New Bern one more time :) for our dear friends' little girl, Kenley's 1st birthday party. It was a short trip, but also so wonderful to see our church family again. Our friends Emma, Greg, and their little boy Hunter also came down from Virginia Beach to attend the party, so the three of us Mamas were able to take lots of pictures of our ever growing pregnant bellies. It is so amazing how God has blessed all of our families with our 2nd little ones due so close to each other. Keri is due first on January 21, I am due January 23, and Emma is due January 25. Of course during that time we will all be in different states around the country, but thankfully blogging helps keep us all in touch with each other. Amazingly too, our other friend Sarah is also pregnant a few weeks ahead of us and then Maryn found out she is pregnant too! WOW God is truly blessing us all with precious babies.
A trip to New Bern wouldn't be complete without a stop at Baker's Square for breakfast

I sure loved that rainbow cake :)

Uncle David & Aunt Lindsey get MARRIED!

July 24, Jim's brother David and his "preschool" sweetheart got married in MI and we wouldn't have missed it for anything. We have been traveling so much this summer and it was a pleasant trip to fly instead of drive this time. David and I haven't been on an airplane for over a year, so he was really looking forward to the ride. It was a quick weekend trip, but it was so wonderful to see so many family and friends again.
